The Full Story (almost)

I’ve enjoyed being onstage for as long as I can remember. Music being my first passion, I spent hours as a kid singing songs ranging from James Taylor to Sesame Street (my parents have ecclectic taste). To put it simply, I loved to entertain. When I was 4, I performed onstage for the first time in a dance recital where I did a tap number from everyone’s favorite tap musical: The Lion King. Halfway through the song I forgot about the rest of the group and had my own (accidental) solo moment. The entire audience erupted in laughter, and it was at this point my dad said to my mom: “She was supposed to be a star.” (Watch the iconic moment HERE).

Whether or not that’s true, my parents signed me up for musical theatre classes at a local community center. Eventually I began performing with Musical Theatre Works in San Francisco, where I went on to be in 10 of their Main Stage shows. This company allowed my passion for musical theatre to blossom and helped me discover that I don’t just love it for the singing. I love storytelling, creating characters, and entertaining the audience.

In high school I further developed my acting ability when I got cast as both Yente and Frumah-Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof. The idea of playing both a Russian grandmother and a raging ghost was quite intimidating at first, but thanks to my wonderful director I learned to let go, have fun, and not shy away from making bold choices.  An audience member told me I stole the show as Yente, which was stunning to hear given how little stage time I had. Ever since then, I’ve made it my goal to leave the audience wanting more regardless of how big or small the role is. I went on to play Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd my senior year, which was the most challenging role I had ever done. To this day it is still my favorite show I’ve ever performed in and I hope I will be lucky enough to do it again as an adult.

In May 2023 I graduated from Hofstra University with a BFA in theatre performance and a minor in musical theatre. My studies included viewpoints, dialects, red nose, stage combat, and on-camera work. Outside of theatre I also have a strong passion for choir, and have performed with the concert and chamber choirs in high school and college. I was a member of the mixed-voice acapella group

The Hofbeats, and can be heard singing soprano 1 on our latest EP “Soulbirds.”

When I’m not onstage I’m still active behind the scenes, such as music directing for Masquerade, Hofstra’s student-run musical theatre club. I also served as the secretary for Hofstra’s chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, a theatrical honor society. Since graduating, I’ve been working as assistant teaching artist at Musical Theatre Works where I teach singing and acting to students from kindergarten through 5th grade. In my spare time I like to bake, crochet, and watch re-runs of Friends!
